Early Symptoms Of Diabetes

Diabetes is a medical condition which happens when blood sugar levels are too high, which may be due to insulin resistance or an inability to produce insulin. Most people with type 2 diabetes who cannot use insulin correctly are diagnosed after high blood sugar levels are found during routine blood tests.

Several major causes of fatigue can be associated with diabetes / high sugar levels, including dehydration (due to frequent urination, which can disturb sleep) and kidney damage. In addition, dehydration accompanying more frequent urination is a common cause of fatigue in diabetics.

With prolonged high blood sugar levels, you are at risk of more serious diseases that can lead to blindness, such as diabetic retinopathy. When diabetes affects the skin, it is usually a sign of too high blood sugar (glucose) levels. If you happen to notice any of the following symptoms, it's time to talk to your doctor.

Early symptoms of diabetes:

  1. Dry skin
  2. Itchy skin
  3. Dry mouth
  4. Blurred vision
  5. Increased urination
  6. Intense thirst
  7. Hunger

If you have diabetes, your body can not use glucose (sugar) as efficiently for energy - you lose the biggest source of energy by draining excess glucose. And when your body cannot use glucose for energy, it starts burning fat and muscle, causing weight loss - This process affects your body and changes the way glucose is used for energy.

With prediabetes, you may or may not have some of the symptoms of diabetes; if you are at high risk for diabetes, you need to be even more attentive to its early symptoms. Regardless of the type, it is important to know the signs and symptoms to help diagnose and treat the disease early and prevent serious complications.
